Citronella is a natural insect repellant and has fresh, lively aromatics.

Mind - Refreshing and uplifting with a hint of warmth and spice.
Body - Protect your skin from insect bites by diluting and using it as an insect repellent to deter mosquitos and other biting insects.
DIY - Add 10 drops of Citronella, 5 drops of Lavender, and 4 drops of Tea Tree, to 50 ml of a carrier oil such as olive oil, to make a safe, non-toxic insect repellent.

Citronella is a must-have for our New Zealand environment, where we often encounter annoying, biting insects such as flies, mosquitos, and midges.

It can be used in candles, sprays, and diffusers to repel such pests or diluted in a carrier oil and used directly on the skin as an insect repellent.

When diluted and used directly on the skin, Citronella has the added benefit of relieving some of the itching if you have already been bitten. This is due to its strong cleansing and medicinal aromas and qualities.

We use Citronella around our outdoor cooking and living area to deter annoying, biting insects such as flies, mosquitos, and midges.

We also use it near our dog kennels, and chicken run to deter fleas, lice and other unwanted insects.

Citronella has a refreshing, warm aroma that lasts for a long time, so is ideal for outdoor use, camping, travelling, hiking and the beach.

Use Citronella essential oil in your diffuser during cooking to reduce odours and deter unwanted insects.

It blends well with other essential oils like lavender, rosemary, and tea tree. It also blends well with citrus oils such as mandarin, sweet orange and lemon.
